WL Western junior Sam Johnson commits to Boston College, Muskegon lineman commits to LSU

Football
Standout Walled Lake Western junior quarterback Sam Johnson committed to Boston College this week. The 6-4 Johnson is rated a 4-star prospect by ESPN. He chose BC over Michigan, Missouri, Iowa, and Syracuse. Last fall, he racked up 2,150 yards and 23 touchdowns through the air for an 8-2 Western club that shared a league title out of the new Lakes Valley Conference. Boston College plucked Belleville linebacker Marvin Ham for its 2019 crop earlier this year. Former Michigan quarterback Scot Loeffler (BC’s OC) recruits the area for the Eagles.
Ready to take his talents to the Bayou, Muskegon junior offensive lineman Anthony Bradford committed to LSU this week. At 6-5, 325 pounds, the 4-star force of nature in the trenches helped the Big Reds to a Division 3 state championship in 2017.
West Bloomfield junior linebacker-safety Lance Dixon and Oak Park sophomore offensive lineman Justin Rogers both snagged position MVP honors at Nike’s The Opening showcase camp regional in Columbus, Ohio, last weekend. They are both 4-star recruits. Dixon was just named an Army All-American for 2018.
Basketball
Detroit Henry Ford senior combo guard Anthony Roberts has signed with Kent State. The 6-4 dynamo in the open court who plays with a chip on his shoulder, averaged 22 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds per game this year. He was originally committed to Bryant University, a Division I school in Rhode Island, but re-opened his recruitment back in the winter when Bryant head coach Tim O’Shea departed the program.
In a steal for the GLIAC, Ann Arbor Skyline senior sniper Jack Ammerman inked with Northwood. Ammerman (6-1) might be the best pure shooter in the state’s senior class.
