Carmel LB Ty Wise lets everyone know he’s a Hoosier at heart

Ty Wise will wear the cream and crimson.

The Carmel star junior outside linebacker committed to Indiana University last week, taking one of the state’s premier defensive prospects on the gridiron off the board for the Class of 2020. Back in the fall, Wise (6-foot-3, 215 pounds), a total menace sideline-to-sideline, helped spark his Greyhounds to a spot in the 6A state championship game. He collected 90 tackles in 2018 and will follow teammate, senior rush end Beau Robbins to Bloomington for his college ball.

For IU, Wise is head coach Tom Allen and the Hoosiers’ first commit for the program’s upcoming recruiting crop. The incoming 2019 class, boasts three of the state’s top five recruits: Robbins, Avon RB Sampson James and Andrean LB Cameron Williams. For Carmel, Wise’s running buddy in the Greyhounds linebacking corps, senior middle linebacker Joey Schmidt, is still on the board and presents supreme value for whichever school ends up taking a flier on him.
