Changing Directions In The Pocket — Brownsburg QB Whitaker Vacates WIU Commitment In Midst Of Playoff Push

By: SCOTT BURNSTEIN, November 11, 2022, 7:33 am

Big-gun Brownsburg senior quarterback Jayden Whitaker is back on the market. Whitaker is the No. 1 rated signal caller in the Hoosier State’s Class of 2023.

The 6-foot-3 gunslinger de-committed from Western Illinois this week as he prepares to take his spry and hungry Brownsburg squad into battle with defending state champion Cathedral in playoff throwdown Friday. Brownsburg is 10-1.

Whitaker has thrown for 2,310 yards and 18 touchdowns so far this fall. He also has 350 yards and 8 trips into the end zone on the ground. Last year, he tossed 10 scores while amassing 1,525 yards through the air for a 9-3 club. Scouts like his smooth and quick-trigger release. His touch, accuracy and overall football IQ have improved by leaps and bounds this season. He’s thinking one or two steps in front of every play and his self-awareness and instinct in and out of the pocket are off the charts during this current playoff run.

With the kind of senior campaign Whitaker is having in 2022, the bigger scholarship offers are sure to be flooding in after the season is over. Besides WIU, Butler UT-Martin, Minnesota St.-Mankato have bids on the table for Whitaker’s services at the next level. Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota, Ball State, Central Michigan and Miami (OH) are all believed to be keeping tabs and circling with potential late offers.
