Clarkston four-star OT Garrett Dellinger makes college choice, picking LSU

It’s been almost a foregone conclusion since the Clarkston duo hit the high school football scene as freshmen starters on the Wolves’ 2017 state championship team that both Garrett Dellinger and Rocco Spindler were going to play big-time college football.
Now, we know where for one of them.
Dellinger committed to Louisiana State University (LSU) on Wednesday, picking from a list of 16 total offers that included his final four of LSU, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State.
He also had offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Toledo and Wisconsin.
A 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive tackle ranked by 247Sports as the No. 3 player in Michigan’s class of 2021, and the No. 11 offensive tackle in the nation, Dellinger came in at No. 4 on the STATE CHAMPS! 300 top recruits list.
He’ll be joined on this year’s Clarkston offensive line by both Spindler and his own younger brother, Cole Dellinger, a top 2023 prospect, while Northern Illinois-bound Blake Kosin is at tight end.
The Wolves went 23-5 over Dellinger’s first two seasons, making it to the Division 1 title game each time — losing to Chippewa Valley in 2018, after beating West Bloomfield in 2017 — but are coming off a 3-6 season that snapped a 16-season playoff streak for the Wolves.
Clarkston is scheduled to open the 2020 season in the Battle of the Big House at Michigan Stadium on Aug. 27, then play Birmingham Groves and Seaholm in the non-conference schedule before finishing up the regular season against Macomb Dakota.
