Carley Barjaktarovich

Richmond | Shortstop - Senior

Above all else, Barjaktarovich is a gamer. As a sophomore she helped Richmond win the state title and last season the Blue Devils were runner-up. “Defensively, I don’t think there is another short stop that can compare in range, base coverage, arm strength and accuracy,” coach Howard Stuart said. “Her toughness and knowledge of the game is unmatched.” A four-year starter, Barjaktarovich signed with Lehigh. Last season she led her team in batting average (.538), stolen bases (42) and on-base percentage (.600). Barjaktarovich made three errors in 113 chances (.973). Richmond is 26-7 this season and reached the quarterfinals again. Through those 33 games, Barjaktarovich, the leadoff batter, is batting .602 (71-118) with eight doubles, four triples, 52 runs scored, 19 RBI and 35 stolen bases.

Gabi Salo

Escanaba | Pitcher - Sophomore

Salo split time in the circle last season with a senior. She’s the ace this time around. Salo was 18-3 last season and in 115 2/3 innings she struck out 185 and had a 0.787 ERA. She walked 23 and gave up 55 hits. In her high school debut Salo tossed a no-hitter and struck out nine. Escanaba is 25-3 this season and through these 28 games Salo is 18-3 including five no-hitters. She’s struck out 229 in 123 innings. Salo has allowed just seven earned runs, 11 walks 34 hits. In the regionals Salo pitched 13 innings and gave up two hits, no runs and had 25 strikeouts. She committed to Wisconsin. “She’s an honor roll student,” coach Jamie Segorski aid. “We want our players to be student-athletes first.”

Jenny Bressler

Plymouth | Pitcher - Senior

A four-year starter, Bressler signed with Nevada-Las Vegas. Last season she was 20-3 with a 0.69 ERA and 283 strikeouts. “Jenny always puts us in position to win,” coach Lauren Evans said. “She’s very composed and strong (in the circle). She doesn’t get flustered.” Plymouth has won a district title in each of Bressler’s four seasons. This season though 33 games Bressler is batting .443 (47-106) with 16 runs scored, 17 doubles, four triples, 44 RBI, 10 walks and she’s struck out six times in 123 plate appearances. She is 21-3 with a 1.18 ERA. In 154 2/3 innings she’s struck out 175 and walked 42. In the regionals Bressler was the winning pitcher in both games. She gave up three runs in 12 innings and struck out 26. She also went 3-7 with three RBI at the plate.

Sammy Gehrls - WINNER!

Caledonia | Pitcher / Outfielder - Senior

Gehrls is a four-year starter and she signed with Grand Valley State. It’s possible she will play both basketball and softball in college. Last season she was 19-9 with a 1.56 ERA. She struck out 230 batters and walked just 10. At the plate she hit nine home runs and had 45 RBI. Before this season Gehrls was 49-12 with 529 strikeouts. Through 31 games this season (Caledonia is 25-6) Gehrls is batting .500 (47-94) with 13 home runs (46 for her career), 11 doubles, two triples and 47 RBI.  She’s 16-2 with a 1.30 ERA. In 131 2/3 innings Gehrls has 189 strikeouts and walked 29. In the regionals Gehrls went 3-6 at the plate. She went all seven innings in both games, each were 4-1 victories. Gehrls allowed eight hits and struck out 14 in those 14 innings.
