Detroit Athletic Club announces 12 finalists for female and male high school athlete of the year awards

Detroit – The Detroit Athletic Club has announced the 12 finalists for the 2015 female and male high school athletes of the year.

The two winners will be announced at the DAC awards presentation on May 11.

The finalists for the female athlete of the year are Audrey Belf (cross country, track) of Birmingham Seaholm, Liza Elder (lacrosse, basketball) of East Grand Rapids, Taylor Garcia (swimming) of Holland, Cierra Rice (basketball, track) of Grosse Pointe South, Alex Sobczak (softball, volleyball) of Farmington Hills Mercy and Sarah White (golf, ice hockey) of East Kentwood.

The finalists for the male athlete of the year are Myles Amine (wrestling) of Detroit Catholic Central, Nick Azar (baseball) of Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett, Grant Fisher (cross country, track) of Grand Blanc, Jake Hartje (hockey, lacrosse) of Detroit Country Day, Logan Massa (wrestling) of St. Johns and Tim Wang (tennis) of Novi.

A female and male athlete of the year will also be presented at the collegiate level.

The awards are sponsored by the Detroit Athletic Club and the DAC Foundation in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Michigan.
