Detroit King football coach Dale Harvel passes away

Reports have come out late Friday night that Detroit King Football coach Dale Harvel has passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 57.
Branden Hunter of Michigan Preps first reported the news on Twitter of Harvel’s passing. WXYZ Channel 7’s Brad Galli reported that Harvel passed away due to a heart attack.
After spending 24 seasons as the Defensive Coordinator at Detroit King, Harvel took over as head coach of the Crusaders in 2009. Harvel helped guide Detroit King to the 2015 Division 2 State Championship last season.
Harvel suffered a heart attack in September of the 2014 season shortly after his team’s win in week five of the season. Harvel missed the next three games of the season, before returning to the sidelines in week nine for his team’s Detroit PSL Championship game against Cass Tech.
Harvel compiled a 62-19 record in his seven years as head coach at Detroit King.
