DIVISION 3-4 SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Gladstone, Rogers City narrowly win state championships

Division 3 State Softball Finals:
Gladstone 2, Unionville-Sebewaing 1 – At East Lansing, Lexi Hongisto slapped what wound up the game-winning RBI single in the third inning and pitcher Tinner Sharon went the distance, fanning 12 in the Gladstone victory. Sadie Strasser recorded an RBI base-hit as well for Gladstone (30-2) and Sharon tripled and scored run to help her cause in the circle.
 
Unionville-Sebewaing had been undefeated entering the state finals and ends the season with a 40-1 mark.
Division 4 state softball finals
 
Rogers City 3, Kalamazoo Christian 2 – At East Lansing, Nikki Radke spun a complete-game from the circle and Morgan Hall and Alexa Quaine each went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to highlight the Rogers City offense.
Radke retired 15 straight Kalamazoo Christian batters at one stretch during the contest, outdueling Hornets’ all-state ace Bekkah Van Dam. 
 
Sarah Meredith had the game-tying hit for Rogers City in the third, after the Hornets fell behind 1-0 early.
With the title in tow, Rogers City wrapped up its 2014 campaign with a 34-6 record, having beaten Kalamazoo Christian both times they faced each other this spring.
Kalamazoo Christian finished 27-8.
