East English Village extends win streak against Southeastern

By: Branden Hunter, September 22, 2012, 1:25 am

In their inaugural first season,Detroit East English Village Prep is certainly off to a strong start. After a week one loss to Oak Park, East Village is on a four game winning streak, and are atop of the PSL-East at 4-1.  Led by TE and Michigan commit Khalid Hill and DB/RB Desmond King,a Ball State commit, the Bulldogs have dominated league play thus far.

And that storyline continued today as East Village dismissed Southeastern today in a 39-0 blowout win. East English Village wasted no time, and scoring on their first posession, with a 17-yard touchdown run by Nate Boulware 3:36 into the game. Southeastern was forced to punt on their first possession, but the ball went over the head of the punter, and East English Village recovered it inside the 20-yard line. Desmond King latered scored on a 4-yard touchdown run with 5:26 left in the 1st quarter to make it 14-0.

Turnovers plagued Southeastern all day,as the East English Village defense forced four fumbles and one interception. The interception would turn out to be a big one for senior Desmond King. It ended a scoring threat on the 11-yard line late in the 3rd for Southeasern, and King became the state’s all-time interception leader. East English Village controlled the clock with their running game, scoring six times on the ground. A bulk of that came in the 2nd quarter, when Leon Timmons took the ball 36-yards for a score with 5:49 left in the 2nd,and King ran for scores of 3,and 47-yards to end the half.

Southeastern finally did get on the board early in the 3rd quarter, but a 45-yard touchdown pass from William Morgan to Kenyatta Singleton was negated by a holding penalty.
