Football Recruiting Notebook — PSL Sends A Pair To Next Level In Middle Of Playoff Push

By: SCOTT BURNSTEIN, November 4, 2022, 1:25 am

Two of the best the Detroit PSL has to offer on the football field committed to colleges in the wake of wins by their respective teams to open the 2022 playoffs; Detroit Cass Tech senior quarterback Leeshaun Mumpfield committed to Ferris St. after CT’s 38-13 ousting of favored West Bloomfield in the DI bracket and Detroit King cornerback back, Jameel Croft committed to Kansas following the Crusaders’ 41-28 downing of River Rouge out of D2.

Mumpfield (5-10, 185) has thrown for 1,806 yards and 21 touchdowns so far this fall. He is a three-year starter under center for the Technicians.

Croft is excelling on both sides of the pigskin this season — he also shreds on the gridiron from his spot at wide receiver on offense. As a junior, he won a state title. Most national scouting services tab Croft a 3-star prospect. Kansas was one of close to two dozen schools to offer him scholarships, including Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pitt and Syracuse.
