A complete rundown of this week’s girls golf regional action:
DIVISION 1
Regional 1 (At Blythfield CC) – East Kentwood ran away with the Division 1 regional title, posting a low score of 338, while Traverse City West (363) grabbed a second place finish and Hudsonville (366) took third place. East Kentwood’s Sara White shot a low score of 80 to take home medalist honors, while teammate Mackenzie Keenoy took home second place with a round of 81 and Rockford’s Tori Sobkowiak (84) was third for the day.
Regional 2 (At Washtenaw Polo Fields) – Plymouth came out on top with the regional title, beating the rest of the field by 11 strokes as the Wildcats finished with a team score of 359. Finishing in second place was Ann Arbor Pioneer (370), while Saline (388) came in third place. Ann Arbor Skyline’s Jami Laude, who finished with a score of 79, earned the individual regional championship, while Monroe’s Jaclyn Fanola (80) and Plymouth’s Sydney Murphey (85) finished in second and third place respectively.
Regional 3 (At Sanctuary Lake) – Dearborn pulled out the regional title by just one stroke, finishing with a team score of 334, besting Troy by one shot, as the Colts posted a 335, while Bloomfield Hills rounded out the top three with a 352. The individual regional champion was Dearborn’s Elayna Bowser, who posted a 74, while Troy’s Jennifer Cui (75) and Bowser’s teammate Madison Renko (78) rounded out the top three individual performances.
Regional 4 (At Dunham Hills GC) – Farmington Hills Mercy shot a low score of 335 on Thursday afternoon to win a Division 1 regional title, besting Novi (344) and Northville (356) to take home the hardware. Brighton’s Jessica Long won the individual title as she shot a 79, beating the rest of the field by three strokes as Mercy’s Erica Heath and Julia Shaw each recorded an 82 on the day to take a second place tie for the day.
Regional 5 (At Lapeer CC) – Lake Orion cruised comfortably to a regional title on Wednesday afternoon as the Dragons posted a team score of 340, besting second place Grand Blanc (357) by 17 strokes, while Davison grabbed a third place finish with 362. Stoney Creek’s Bailey Compton was the top individual finisher of the day, winning a regional title for the second straight year as she posted a score of 81. Rochester’s Veronica Hague (82) finished in second place, while Compton’s teammate Lauren Ingle (84) finished in third place.
DIVISION 2
Regional 6 (At Lincoln GC) – Muskegon Mona Shores rolled to a dominant performance on Wednesday, picking up the regional with a team score of 361, besting the rest of the field by 25 strokes as Forest Hills Central notched a second place finish, posting a team score of 386, and Greenville grabbed third place with 391. Rylee George of Mona Shores picked up the regional championship as she finished with an 81 on the day, while Forest Hills Central’s Maddie Lorenz (89) finished in second place and Greenville’s Taylor Hansen (90) took third place.
Regional 7 (Bedford Valley) – St. Joseph bested Okemos by 10 strokes on Thursday afternoon with a score of 343 to take home a regional title as East Lansing rounded out the top three, posting a 376. The top three finishers on the day all came from St. Joseph as Hannah Grall finished with a low round of 82 to take medalist honors and teammates Courtney Rooker and Casey Singler finished the day with rounds of 84 to take a second place tie.
Regional 8 (Flint Elks GC) – Midland Dow finished with a low team score of 335 on Thursday afternoon to clinch a Division 2 regional title as Flusing (359) finished in second place, while St. Johns (392) took third place. Dow sophomore Stephanie Carras was the top individual on the day, shooting a low score of 76. Flushing’s Brooke Thomas finished in second place with a 78 and Alexis Carras from Dow took third place after a round of 83.
Regional 9 (At Edgewood CC) – Birmingham Seaholm put together a dominant effort on Thursday afternoon as the Maples picked up a regional title by putting together a team score of 339, beating second place Birmingham Marian (362) by 23 strokes, while Auburn Hills Avondale (370) took third. Seaholm’s Jordan Michalak won the individual regional title, posting a low score of 79, while teammate Allegra Cunningham (81) took second place and Avondale’s Mackenzie Blomberg (82) finished in third place.
Regional 10 (At Pine View GC) – South Lyon put together an impressive regional tournament performance as the Lions ran away with the regional championship on Wednesday, posting a team score of 341, winning the title by a whopping 80 strokes as Grosse Pointe North finished in second place with a score of 421 and third place went to Pinckney, which also tallied a team score of 421. South Lyon freshman won the individual regional title, posting a score of 83, while teammate Carolyn Harding finished in a second place tie with Detroit Renaissance’s Nia Little as both recorded a score of 84.
DIVISION 3
Regional 12 (At Diamond Springs GC) – Grand Rapids South Christian posted a team score of 357 to pick up a Division 3 regional title, topping the rest of the field by 18 strokes on Wednesday afternoon. Lakewood (375) notched a second place finish on the day, while Grand Rapids Christian (379) finished in third place. Lake Odessa Lakewood’s Emily Barker won a playoff to win the individual regional title as South Christian’s junior Nicole Hoekwater finished in second place as both players finished the day with a score of 84. Samantha Slatkin of Hastings and Ali Martus of Wayland Union finished in a tie for third place with a score of 85.
Regional 13 (At Coldwater GC) – The Marshall golf team accumulated a team score of 370 to edge out Jackson Northwest (375) to win the Division 3 girls golf regional title on Thursday as Sturgis placed third with a score of 395. Sturgis junior Jessica Griffioen won medalist honors as she finished the day with a low score of 85, Marshall’s Sammie Price (88) took second place on the day, while Jackson Northwest’s Allie Lefere (89) grabbed third place.
Regional 14 (At The Emerald GC) – Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood held off Birmingham Detroit Country Day to win a Division 3 regional title by just one stroke. Cranbrook posted a team score of 361, while Country Day finished at 362 and Warren Regina took third place on the day with a score of 375. Cranbrook’s Cordelia Chan won the individual regional championship as she shot s 79 on the day, while Regina’s Lucy Cornwell (81) placed second and Country Day’s Nicole Junn (87) was finished in third.
Regional 15 (At West Shore CC) – Grosse Ile ran away with a Division 3 regional title on Wednesday afternoon, as it posted a team score of 355, topping second place Divine Child (377) by 22 shots and South Lyon East (407) finished in third place. Carleton Airport’s Olivia Reed took home the individual regional title, while Grosse Ile’s Megan Moco (83) and Katie Williams (85) finished in second and third place respectively.
DIVISION 4
Regional 16 (At Mistwood) – Harbor Springs finished with a team score of 352 on Wednesday to win a Division 4 regional title as Glen Lake (375) and Stanton Central Montcalm (407) finished in second and third place on the day. Glen Lake sophomore Nicole Cox won the individual regional title with a score of 77, while Farwell’s Bria Colosky posted an 80 on the day to take second place and Harbor Springs’ Abbey Detmar (81) took third place.
Regional 18 (At Twin Brooks GC) – Flint Powers Catholic had a strong showing on Thursday afternoon to pick up a Division 4 regional title, shooting a low score of 382. Freeland (398) took second for the day, while Frankenmuth (399) finished third. Freeland’s Tori Argyle and Frankenmuth’s Meg Watkins finished in a tie after 18 holes for the first place finish, while Frankenmuth’s Shayna Schneider took third place with a score of 88.
Regional 19 (At Calderone) – Napoleon earned a regional title on Wednesday as the Pirates posted a team score of 416, topping second place Jackson Lumen Christi (445) and Brooklyn Columbia Central (452). Hillsdale’s Madi Reed won the individual regional title as she posted a low score of 90 on the day, while Napoleon senior Rachel Stoneburner (94) finished in second place and East Jackson’s Savannah Swiatlowski took third place (95).
Regional 20 (Stoney Creek GC) – Macomb Lutheran North posted a score of 374 on Wednesday afternoon as the Mustangs cruised to a regional title in Division 4. Finishing in second place on the day was Livonia Ladywood (403), while Adrian Madison (427) nabbed a third place finish. Lutheran North’s Katie Humphreys won the individual regional title as she posted a low score of 88 on the afternoon, while teammates Sydney Martens (92) and Serena Nguyen (94) finished in second and third place respectively.
