Going Back On The Market – Indy Hoopster Tae Davis Vacates Louisville Commitment

Warren Central; senior wing guard D’Ante “Tae” Davis de-committed from Louisville over last weekend.
The 6-foot-5 Davis averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds per game this past season on a 19-7 WC Bears club. His brother Dre plays at Louisville. Dre Davis prepped at Lawrence Central (Class of 2020). Tae Davis spent his freshman and sophomore years at LC prior to moving to WC when his father took the Bears head coaching job,
Both Davis brothers signed with the Louisville Cardinals after being recruited by Chris Mack. But Mack was fired mid-season and Kenny Payne was announced as the Cardinals new head coach back on Friday.
Because Mack is gone, Payne has okayed Tae Davis getting let out of his NLI. The younger Davis says he will still consider attending Louisville following exploring other options.
Payne won a National Title (1986) as a starter in the Louisville Cardinals’ frontcourt. He comes home to UL from an assistant coaching job in the NBA with the NY Knicks and only two years removed from a successful stint as John Calipari’s associate head coach at the University of Kentucky.
Besides Louisville, Tae Davis has offers from Indiana, Purdue, Butler and Xavier. Dre Davis started at small forward for Louisville in 2022 and sheeted 7 points and 3 boards a night on a 13-19 squad.
