Hall of Fame coach Bobby Hurley, Sr., Eastern’s Rob Murphy headline coaches forum in Detroit

Detroit – The Horatio Williams Foundation is sponsoring two events this weekend designed to enhance Detroit area basketball.

The 6th annual coaches forum will be held Friday at MGM Grand Detroit from 5-8 p.m. The main speaker is hall of fame coach Bobby Hurley, Sr. Among the other guest speakers include Eastern Michigan men’s coach Rob Murphy and Joe Crawford, director of AAU Sports, marketing and managing.

Hurley is the head coach at one of the top high school programs in the country, St. Anthony in Jersey City, N.J.

Coaches are asked to register at www.horatiowilliamsfoundation.org.

There is a $20 donation with a complimentary buffet.

The 10th annual 2nd chance games will be held on Saturday at Detroit Edison, located at 1903 Wilkins Street near Eastern Market from noon-4 p.m.

This event is for student-athletes at the high school, prep school and junior college level that are interested in continuing their careers at the next level.  

Players that attend the second chance games will be placed on teams and compete in front of college coaches.

This is a free event and those wishing to participate are asked to register at www.horatiowilliamsfoundation.org.

One year of varsity basketball experience is required.

College coaches and members of recruiting services have been invited to this event and are expected to attend.

For those who come early on Saturday, coach Hurley will present a free on-court, coaching demonstration from 9-11 a.m.
