IHSAA postpones boys basketball tournament, will still hold gymnastics finals with no spectators

The Indiana High School Athletic Association took its response to the COVID-19 outbreak to another level on Friday, announcing the postponement of the boys basketball state tournament.
The gymnastics state finals at Ball State’s Worthen Arena will still take place on Saturday, with no fans in attendance, as outlined in the IHSAA’s original plan on Thursday.
Originally, the IHSAA had intended to attempt to conclude the boys basketball tournament with limited spectators — 75 from each school — starting with this week’s regionals, and continuing through semi-states next week. But given the number of schools closing for an extended period of time, “it has become apparent that the IHSAA boys basketball tournament series cannot be completed as scheduled,” the IHSAA said in a news release.
