IN Football Recruiting Notebook — New Pal’s Burgess Cuts Offers Down To Final 3
Three is the number in New Pal. At least on the football field right now in the offseason.
New Palestine junior OL Luke Burgess has trimmed his scholarship-offer list to a trifecta of ACC schools. The 6-foot-8, 290-pound pancake prince is down to choosing between Florida State, North Carolina and Louisville. He’ll visit all three campuses in the coming weeks. Before his final three were announced this week, Burgess had 28 bids on the table for his services at the next level, including Indiana, Purdue, Iowa, Wisconsin, Miami (FL), Northwestern, Oregon, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, among other top-tier programs across the country.
New kid on the block
Avon sophomore offensive lineman Zach Bandy is the next big thing in Circle City gridiron recruiting when it comes to putting in work in the trenches. Over the past three weeks, the 6-foot-5, 275-pounder has garnered offers from Kent State, Ball State and Central Michigan. This kid is a mega mauler and will certainly land in a BCS program before it’s all said and done in his recruitment journey.
Other offers of note:
Indianapolis Cathedral sophomore quarterback Danny O’Neil collected offers from Kentucky from the SEC and Louisville out of the ACC. Indiana offered earlier this month.
Lawrence Central junior defensive end Josh Mickens scooped a Stanford offer. Mickens is said to be hot for USC of the PAC12, along with North Carolina, Purdue and Michigan State. He boasts 31 total offers right now.
