King reaches 12th state final by defeating St. Johns, 56-48

East Lansing – Mecaela Kelly scored 18 points and Alicia Norman added 14 as Detroit King defeated St. Johns, 56-48, in a Class A semifinal at the Breslin Center on Friday.

King (24-1) will play the winner of the second semifinal between Hudsonville and Warren Cousino for the title on Saturday at noon.

King will make its 12th state-final appearance, a Class A record. The Lady Crusaders have won five titles.

King led 24-17 at halftime and 37-28 after three quarters. The Lady Crusaders never trailed.

St. Johns (23-4), which has never reach a state final, was led by Maddie Maloney who scored 12 points.
