By: SCOTT BURNSTEIN, June 8, 2022, 6:25 am

The best prep hoopster the Hooiserland has to offer right now is in the mix for the U-18 Team USA club. And he hails from the Circle City.

Xavier Booker is the midst of an epic surge up the recruiting charts and might end up leveraging the buzz into a spot repping the Stars & Stripes in international competition this summer. His meteoric climb up the rankings is generating NBA-level chatter.

Indianapolis Cathedral’s 6-foot-10 blue chipper made the first cut in Team USA tryouts last week. The bouncy and long Booker was recently tabbed the No. 4 player in the nation according to 24/7”s newest Class of 2023 recruiting rankings. The scouting service ranks him the No. 2 power forward in the country. In the last set of rankings released y 24/7, he barely slid into the Top 100. Clearly, the strides he’s made in his personal game and the success his high school team achieved this past season made an impression. Check the tape for yourself: he can shoot, rim-run and jump out of the gym. As a junior, he posted 12 points and 8 rebounds per game for a 26-6 Cathedral squad that bagged a 4A state championship.

Booker holds two dozen offers from Duke, Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Clemson, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Miami (FL), Butler, Louisville, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Missouri, Seton Hall, Xavier, Texas and TCU among others. Experts claim it’s down to Duke and Michigan State at this very moment. Duke offered last month. Booker took his official visit to Michigan State back in April.
