Mercy’s Jess Mruzik leads seven Michigan players receiving AVCA All-America honors from Under Armour

Farmington Hills Mercy’s Jess Mruzik was one of 24 high school seniors named to the 2019 AVCA Under Armour All-America First Team, announced on Wednesday, and one of seven players from Michigan to earn honors from the company.

In total, 150 players earned All-America honors from Under Armour on the first, second, third teams or on the honorable mention list.

The reigning Gatorade volleyball player of the year for Michigan, Mruzik is one of 10 finalists for the MIVCA’s Miss Volleyball award.

Fellow Miss Volleyball finalists Celia Cullen of Brighton (second team), Jordyn Gates of Grand Rapids Christian (third team), Kendall Murray of Ann Arbor Skyline (third team) and Alexa Rousseau of Bloomfield Hills (third team) were also honored, while Hudsonville’s Mallory Keller and Grand Haven’s Ashley Slater were honorable mentions.

Mruzik and the other 23 first-team selections are invited to play in the Under Armour All-America Volleyball Match on Dec. 31, to be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
