MIDWEST RECRUITING: Burney looks at Indiana’s lynchpins on the lines, terrors in the trenches

The line play on the prep gridiron in Indiana is fantastic right now. Hoosierland is home to a wealth of talent on both sides of the ball. The No. 1 overall player in the state’s Classes of 2019, 2020 and 2021 each reside at the point of attack.

Alright, let’s roll-call it…….TRENCH TERROR STYLE!!


Defensive line

George Karlaftis (West Lafayette Sr. DE) —  The top player in the senior class, this Purdue-commit is a THER-A-FLU SPECIAL come off the edge and crushing quartberbacks.

• Has recorded 10 sacks or more in all four years of his high school career

• On West Lafayette, he teams with Tavion Woodard (Ball State) to form a brutally-effective pass rush tandem.

Cole Brevard (Carmel Jr DL) —  The top player in the junior class, Brevard plays fundamentally-sound bully ball, a rugged and athletic run stuffer with few equals in the entire Midwest.

Beau Robbins (Carmel Sr. DE) —  The Indiana commit is long, lean and mean collapsing the pocket.


Offensive line

Blake Fisher (Avon Soph. OL) —  The most-coveted player in the sophomore class is fearless, tenacious with a Grade-A motor.

Damon Kaylor (Huntington North Sr. OL) —  Committed to Michigan State, Kaylor is a killer in pass protection.

Justin Britt (Warren Central Sr. OL) —  Committed to Iowa, Britt is a brilliant rush blocker and the heart and soul up front for the state’s best club.

Joe Tippmann (Ft. Wayne Bishop Dwenger Sr. OL) —  Committed to Wisconsin, Tippmann is a technician in his craft, a signal-caller’s closest ally on the field of battle.



Dawand Jones (Ben Davis Sr. OL) —  The definition of raw talent, GINORMOUS upside.

DeZaun Brooks (Lawrence Central Sr. DE) —  Committed to Eastern Michigan, Brooks’ jump of the snap is elite.

Dallas Culpepper (Beach Grove Sr. DL) —  Committed to Illinois St, Culpepper is one hot tamale in the trenches taking down opposing runners.
