MIDWEST RECRUITING: Centerpiece of stacked Avon squad, Sampson James jumps ship from Ohio St., flips to IU

The shock waves are still reverberating.
Avon senior running back Sampson James stunned the masses over the weekend by de-committing to Ohio State and committing to Indiana University. Rated a consensus four-star prospect, the punishing James (6-foot-1, 215 pounds) is the top prospect out of the backfield in the Hoosier State and IU’s biggest recruiting grab in at least a decade.
Last year, James rushed for 1,750 yards and 23 touchdowns. He has 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns this fall and runs behind maybe the most fundamentally sound offensive line in the state.
The Avon Orioles are 6-2 in 2018 and stacked with college prospects. There are over a half-dozen DI college prospects on the Orioles’ roster.
