Detroit – On Monday afternoon, one of the top remaining uncommitted players from the state of Michigan, Detroit U-D Jesuit’s Scott Nelson, made his college decision, committing to Wisconsin.

Nelson chose the Badgers over several other Big Ten offers, including offers from Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State and Northwestern, along with a handful of other power five offers.

Nelson, who is regarded as a 3-star athlete according to most recruiting services confirmed the news on Twitter.

“Blessed and thankful to announce that I will be committing to the University of Wisconsin!! #OnWisconsin #GoBadgers”

Nelson, who stands at 6-2 and 180 pounds, was a key contributor for the Cubs on offense and defense and special teams over the past three years, but was regarded as a safety prospect coming out of high school. Wisconsin was reportedly recruiting Nelson to potentially play on the offensive side of the ball as well, and could be a key player on special teams as a returner in Madison.

Nelson is a two-sport star for the Cubs as he helped lead U-D to the Class A Boys Basketball State Championship in 2016 and is currently a key contributor once again this winter as the Cubs make a run for a second straight title.
