MIDWEST RECRUITING: Noblesville OL Cameron Knight follows big brother to Hoosiers
Noblesville junior offensive lineman Cameron Knight committed to Indiana University over the weekend, deciding to follow in his big brother’s footsteps. Brandon Knight was a top playmaker in the trenches for the Hoosiers the past few seasons and will be in camp with the Dallas Cowboys this summer. Both Knight boys are known for excellent footwork and their fundamentally flawless blocking technique. The younger Knight (6-foot-4, 280-pound tackle) snagged an offer from the Hoosiers earlier this month on a visit. Ball State had also offered. Knight is the third in-state grab for IU’s 2020 class so far, joining Ft. Wayne Bishop Dwenger’s Luke Wiginton (offensive lineman) and Carmel’s Ty Wise (linebacker) in the mix as future Cream & Crimson pigskinners.
Raising his stock
Lawrence Central junior linebacker Daveren Rayner collected MVP honors at his position at a regional qualifying round for The Opening in Nashville. The Open is Nike’s All-American camp, held at Nike headquarters in Eugene, Oregon every summer. Committed to Northern Illinois, Rayner (6-foot-2.5, 190 pounds) is rangy, active and athletic, recording 85 tackles in 2018 alternating between outside linebacker and free safety. Don’t be shocked if Rayner begins seeing interest from the “power-five” programs in the near future. He definitely passes the eye test. This kid has all the tools for success. Can you say OFFSEASON SICKO MODE?
More elite offers piling up
Avon sophomore offensive lineman Blake Fisher is nearing 30 scholarship offers. Bids from Oklahoma and LSU last week gave him offers No. 26 and 27. It’s not surprising. Fisher (6-foot-6, 300 pounds) is considered the top overall prospect in the state’s Class of 2021, just a relentless beast at the point of attack. Scouting experts say he is leaning towards Notre Dame or Wisconsin right now.
