MIDWEST RECRUITING: Offers finally starting to pour in for Ben Davis’ behemoth, Dawand Jones
Scouts are finally beginning to pay attention to Ben Davis football star Dawand Jones. What took you guys so long?
It’s not like the dude is hard to miss. He’s the size of a small country.
The 6-foot-8, 360-pound senior offensive lineman just got his first few college scholarship offers in the days after he played his last high school game. Indiana, USC and Mississippi State have all offered since Ben Davis bowed out to superpower Warren Central in the IHSAA playoffs earlier this month. Jones is also a standout on the basketball court and is considering playing hoops in college.
What I like most about Jones is his flawless footwork and superb agility for a kid with his mammoth frame. His behemoth size and natural instincts in the trenches place the ceiling on his talent in the stratosphere … as in there is no ceiling … as in this kid could be getting a pro paycheck one day.
Expect the floodgates to open on this kid’s recruiting quickly and more schools from power conferences to come in on him soon. However, the next time we see my main man D-NICE getting nice, it won’t be on the gridiron — it’s going to be on the hardwood for the Ben Davis Giants hoop squad this winter. Wait for it …
D-Nice is about to bring the pain on the block. You’ve been warned!!
