Nadolny and Goble set single-season HR record, each finish with 26

Harrison Township – Brooke Nadolny of Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse tied the state’s single-season home run record on Saturday and she’s one behind the record for home runs in a season.
Nadolny, a pitcher and a shortstop, hit a walk-off home run in a regional semifinal then hit a 3-run homer in the regional final to tie Lydia Goble of Schoolcraft with 26 home runs this season.
Nadolny hit 22 home runs last season as a sophomore and has 54 career home runs, one behind Julia Kennedy of Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard. Gabriel Richard is scheduled to play Flat Rock today in a Division 2 regional semifinal at 2 p.m.
Entering the regionals, Nadolny was batting .505 with 53 RBI, 63 runs scored and 11 doubles. She was also 10-3 as a pitcher and had 109 strikeouts in 86 innings.
In L’Anse Creuse’s 3-2 victory over Clinton Township Chippewa Valley on Saturday Nadolny went 2-4 and her two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning was the game-winning hit.
L’Anse Creuse (29-8) trailed Warren Regina 12-8 in the final when Nadolny hit a three-run homer to bring the Lancers to within a run. Regina held on to win, 12-11. Nadolny was 3-4 in the game including a double and four runs scored.
“She is flat out the most amazing hitter I’ve seen in high school in my 24 years,” L’Anse Creuse coach Lisa Downey said.
On June 6, Goble, a senior, homered against Richland Gull Lake to reach 26. Goble batted .535 this season in 114 at-bats.
