New Castle’s Melani Shaffmaster leads six Indiana players earning AVCA All-American honors from Under Armour

New Castle’s Melani Shaffmaster was one of 24 high school seniors named to the 2019 AVCA Under Armour All-America First Team, announced on Wednesday.
In total, 150 players earned All-America honors from Under Armour on the first, second, third teams or on the honorable mention list, including six players from Indiana.
Center Grove’s Madison (MJ) Hammill (second team), Crown Point’s Savana Chacon (third team), Lafayette McCutcheon’s Brooke Humphrey (honorable mention), Leo’s Brooke Smith (honorable mention) and Plainfield’s Olivia Utterback (honorable mention) were also honored.
Shaffmaster and the other 23 first-team selections are invited to play in the Under Armour All-America Volleyball Match on Dec. 31, to be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
