Throughout the season, our media analysts will be monitoring performance, updating player statistics and adding new candidates into the contest as their actual play and performance merits, with a goal of keeping the ten best hockey players on the board. The final award selection and presentation will take place in April with our good friends at Warrior Sports!

Jimmy Pietila

Houghton | Goalie

Senior

"Jimmy has made quite the name for himself. If playing the stingy Gremlin team wasnt hard enough, you have to deal with him on the back end. He plays up top, challenges shooters, and has great athleticism as well. There are a lot of great goalies in Michigan, but it says a lot when many coaches agree that he might be the very best." -Opposing MHSAA Coach

Doug Wood Jr

University Liggett | Forward

Junior

"This kid is great. What makes him so special is his hockey IQ, he knows where the soft areas are in the attack zone, and understands when to break without the puck in the neutral zone. His shot release is quick, and he can put it where he wants from any angle, making him very difficult to cover." -Opposing MHSAA Coach.

Dean Loukus

Calumet | Forward

Senior

"It seems every year Calumet has a Loukus or two on the roster! They have all been quality players, but Dean might just be the best of them all, and that is saying a lot. A tenacious player who has a constant motor, and makes plays at top speed. He is a high-end guy for sure, and I expect him to continue playing for many years after his career at Calumet is done." -Opposing MHSAA Coach
