PROGRAMMING NOTE: State Champs! will broadcast full cross country, boys soccer finals recap shows online
As a high school sports fan, does your calendar look like ours over the next two weeks?
Scribbles here. Underlines there. Arrows criss-crossing each other.
With boys soccer and cross country headed to the finals this weekend, the volleyball postseason ramping up with districts this week and regionals next, culminating in semis and finals the same weekend as football semis and girls swim finals the third weekend of November — it’s a mess.
As much as we’d like to be at every single contest over that span, we can’t.
Nor can we fit coverage of all of it into our half-hour weekly State Champs show on Fox Sports Detroit.
So in order to give sports their fair share of time and in-depth coverage, we’re planning to do full recap shows — with comprehensive highlights, interviews with players and coaches — for both boys soccer and cross country finals this weekend, and post them online Wednesday, Nov. 7.
We’ll also have full coverage of two volleyball district championship matches that will be posted online Friday, Nov. 2.
Rather than 30 seconds of coverage on the TV show, the games will get three to five minutes on the digital broadcasts, which our thousands of followers on Facebook, YouTube and StateChampsNetwork.com can devour on their own time.
It’s everything everyone loves about State Champs but without the time constraints.
