FINAL REGULAR-SEASON GIRLS BASKETBALL RANKINGS: Flushing jumps into the final top 25, while Edison goes wire-to-wire at No. 1 (again)

By: MATTHEW B. MOWERY, March 22, 2021, 4:24 am

Our blink-and-you’ll-miss-it regular season has come to a close, and with it our rankings. Now that the postseason is set to tip off, we’ll cease our weekly rankings, and let the natural selection process of the postseason take over. Now, it’s for real.

Before we do, we’ll give you one last edition of the top 25, our final rankings for the regular season.

While conference championship games — official (like the KLAA, CAAC Blue and CHSL) or unofficial (like the SEC Red) — clarified final positions for a handful of teams in our top 25, there wasn’t that much movement, leaving only one spot open for our only new team — the Flint Metro League Stripes champion Flushing — to jump in. For all that it was a sprint of a regular season, it was still a matter of endurance for teams to go through unscathed. Just eight of our top 25 teams — Edison, Hartland, East Lansing, Midland Dow, Kent City, Grand Rapids West Catholic, Byron and L’Anse Creuse North — finished the regular season with unblemished records, but not all of them will be able to say that in three more weeks.
