GIRLS BASKETBALL RANKINGS: Howell, Lansing Catholic jump into top 25 rankings after knocking off top-10 teams; Divine Child continues to rise fast
Another week, another few upsets to shake up the top 25. The only remaining unbeaten in KLAA West play, Howell jumps into the rankings at 25 after knocking off No. 5 Hartland, 37-31, while unbeaten Lansing Catholic joins the Highlanders in a tie for the No. 25 spot after beating No. 8 Portland, the defending D2 champ, by a 55-52 margin. Ypsilanti Arbor Prep kept making its case for the top team in the rankings with wins over honorable mention South Lyon East and No. 12 Redford Westfield Prep, while Divine Child continues its rapid ascent, shooting up into the top 10 after another top-25 league win, beating No. 15 Farmington Hills Mercy, 54-49. The Falcons have the return trip to Birmingham on Thursday, facing a Marian team that righted the ship after a two-loss week, and has coach Mary Cicerone on the cusp of win No. 700. Defending D1 champ Hudsonville kept rolling in the OK Red, beating No. 7 Rockford, 62-48.
