Michigan football rankings after Week 8: A pair of west-side top-five blowouts shake up rankings heading final week of 2019 regular season

A pair of lopsided west-side results, and one in the central part of the state resulted in the only major movement in Week 8 of the regular season. Grandville knocked off previously-unbeaten Rockford — and did it emphatically — to earn the Bulldogs re-entry into the rankings, while Mona Shores lost its fifth straight to cross-town rival Muskegon, getting shut out in a loss for the first time since 2008. Both tumbled out of the top 10 — with the Sailors dropping out of the top 25 entirely, along with a Mt. Pleasant team that took its second one-point loss to a team from Midland, this time losing 13-12 to a Midland Dow team clinging to its playoff life.
River Rouge jumps into the rankings after shutting down Novi Detroit Catholic Central.
