Top 25 Michigan girls basketball rankings for Feb. 17, 2020: GPS, Saline back in the top 25, joined by Byron Center, West Catholic
While a number of contenders have taken a tumble in non-conference games — Flint Carman-Ainsworth has dropped out of the top 10 in the last two rankings with losses to Southfield A&T and No. 1 Detroit Edison, for example, while Byron lost to Division 4 contender Fowler — there have also been a number of in-conference victories that have helped shape the newest top 25.
Hartland got the first road victory among the top three in the KLAA West, but will have to beat Brighton at home on Tuesday to win the division title. Huron continued to roll through the SEC Red Division, with Saline right on their coattails. East Kentwood handed Hudsonville its first loss to put itself in a first-place tie in the OK Red, while Midland Dow has put itself in the driver’s seat in the SVL Red with wins over Midland, Saginaw Heritage and Bay City John Glenn, and Grosse Pointe South won the MAC Red crown with a sweep of Macomb Dakota.
And then, when you look at the schedule for the next two weeks, there could be even more upheaval, with even more key matchups.
After that? On to district play.
