Top 25 Michigan girls basketball rankings for Feb. 3, 2020: Edison survives scare to stay No. 1; Menominee, Chelsea, Dow join top 25

By: MATTHEW B. MOWERY, February 3, 2020, 5:34 pm

The nationally-ranked Detroit Edison Pioneers stayed ranked No. 1 — by the skin of their teeth — eking out a two-point win over then No. 4 Detroit Renaissance on Saturday, their closest call all season long. It was the last game in a run where they’ve played five teams from the STATE CHAMPS! Top 25 in a six-game span. Their next opponent, Southfield A&T, spent most of the first half of the season in the top 25, as well, and is coming off a win over then-unbeaten Flint Carman-Ainsworth. For the Phoenix of Renaissance, it was their first loss to a Michigan team, and the fact that they were the first team from the Mitten to stay within 15 points of Edison.
