Top 25 rankings: Bedford moves into the top 10, Dakota returns to Top 25

Top 25

 

1. Detroit Cass Tech (8-0), A: The Technicians rolled over hapless Detroit Pershing, 62-0. Cass Tech will play for the PSL Division 1 title against Detroit King at Ford Field on Friday.

2. Detroit Catholic Central (8-0), A: Chris Jakubik’s two interceptions, one he returned for a TD, led C.C. over Warren De La Salle, 17-7. The Shamrocks play Orchard Lake St. Mary’s for the Catholic League title at Ford Field on Saturday.

3. Utica Eisenhower (8-0), A: Jack Provencher scored three TDs and the Eagles won their first MAC Red Division title outright since 2011 by defeating Warren Mott, 38-6. Eisenhower can finish 9-0 for the first time since 2004 by defeating Utica Ford on Friday.

4. Muskegon (7-1), A: The Big Reds received their first test in over a month as they trailed Muskegon Mona Shores, 15-14, at halftime before rebounding for a 36-15 victory. Kalil Pimpleton threw for one TD, rushed for another and returned a punt for a TD for Muskegon. Muskegon will host Jenison on Friday.

5. Walled Lake Western (7-1), A: The Warriors, like the Big Reds, were tested last week as they defeated White Lake Lakeland, 21-14. The KLAA North Division champions will play the KLAA West champion, Brighton, on Friday.

6. Saline (8-0), A: The Hornets breezed past Tecumseh, 63-14, and will play host Birmingham Groves on Friday.

7. Lowell (8-0), A: For the second consecutive week the Red Arrows had to come from behind to win. They defeated Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern 41-34 and the OK White Division champions will play at Grand Rapids Northview on Friday.

8. Detroit King (7-1), A: King, for the second consecutive week, defeated Detroit East English Village Prep. The latest came on Saturday, 27-25, in a PSL semifinal. Kevin Willis scored two TDs to lead the Crusaders. King will play Cass Tech in the Detroit PSL Division 1 final at Ford Field on Friday.

9. Davison (8-0), A: Davison ran past Bay City Western 56-7 as quarterback Brenden McRill threw for over 100 yards and one TD, and ran for over 100 yards and one TD. Davison will host Flint Powers on Friday. 

10. Temperance Bedford (7-1), A: The Kicking Mules defeated Ann Arbor Huron, 41-0, to clinch a playoff spot and will at Dexter on Friday.

11. Rockford (6-2), A: The Rams defeated East Kentwood, 45-7, and will play at Hudsonville on Friday

12. Grandville (7-1), A: Grandville defeated Caledonia, 42-0, and will host Holland West Ottawa on Friday.

13. Allen Park (8-0), A: The Jaguars defeated Lincoln Park, 50-8, and will play at Taylor Truman on Friday.

14. Birmingham Groves (8-0), A: The Falcons defeated Farmington, 46-0, to clinch the OAA White division title. The Falcons will play at Saline on Friday. 

15. River Rouge (7-1), B: River Rouge defeated Detroit University Prep Science and Math, 62-0, and will play at Riverview on Friday.

16. Grand Ledge (7-1), A: The Comets held on to defeat East Lansing 31-28 and will host Holt on Friday.

17. Hudsonville (7-1) A: Sam Baine ran for three TDs and the Eagles defeated Grand Haven, 34-7.  Hudsonville will host Rockford on Friday.

18. Northville (7-1), A: Quarterback Jack Burke rushed for three TDs and the Mustangs defeated Novi, 27-19. Northville plays Canton on Friday.

19. DeWitt (7-1), A: The Panthers had an unexpectedly easy time defeating Menominee, 48-14, and will play at Portage Northern on Friday.

20. Canton (6-2), A: Four backs ran for over 50 yards as the Chiefs defeated Westland John Glenn, 49-0. Canton will play Northville on Friday.

21. Dearborn (7-1), A: The Pioneers showed their worth as Hussein Hannawi rushed for 129 yards and two TDs in a 28-23 victory over Dearborn Fordson. Dearborn closes out the regular season at Ann Arbor Skyline.

22. Macomb Dakota (5-3), A: Go figure out the Cougars, the No. 3-ranked team in the preseason. Apparently down after being upset by Clinton Township Chippewa Valley, 40-38, on Oct. 7, Dakota whipped Romeo, 45-7, last Friday. Romeo was held to 110 yards. Dakota can clinch a playoff spot on Friday at it hosts Macomb L’Anse Creuse North.

23. Dearborn Fordson (7-1), A: The Tractors lost to Dearborn, 28-23, and will host Monroe on Friday.

24. Traverse City Central (7-1), A: Central lost in triple overtime to Birmingham Brother Rice, 20-17, and will play at Cadillac on Friday.

25. Portage Central (7-1), A: The Mustangs are back in the top 25 after disposing of Kalamazoo Central, 28-6. Central visits St. Joseph on Friday before both teams begin their playoffs.
