Rockford 2018 quarterback Jason Whittaker commits to Northwestern
On Saturday night, Rockford 2018 quarterback Jason Whittaker announced on Twitter that he is committing to Northwestern after receiving an offer from the Wildcats in late November.
“First off I’d like to thank the Lord for the opportunities He’s bless me with. I’d also like to thank my family, friends and coaches who have supported me throughout my whole life,” Whittaker posted on his Twitter account on Saturday. “Thank you to all the college coaches who have recruited me up until this point. With that being said, I am beyond blessed to announce that I will be continuing my academic and football career at Northwestern University! Thank you to everyone in the Wildcat family for the belief and support in me! I am now closing my recruiting process and fully and officially committing to Northwestern University!!!”
Regarded as a 3-star pro-style quarterback, Whittaker chose Northwestern over five other offers, including offers from Indiana, Western Michigan and Central Michigan.
A starter for Rockford in each of the past two seasons, Whittaker has led the Rams to the playoffs in both seasons and will enter 2017 as one of the state’s best signal callers.
A strong armed quarterback, who fits the bill as a Division 1 signal caller, Whittaker, who stands at 6-5, should fit in well when he arrives on campus in Evanston in the fall of 2018.
Whittaker is the first commit for Northwestern for the Class of 2018 and will join three other players from the state of Michigan when moves on to the next level. Grand Rapids Christian’s Tommy Doles, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Cam Kolwich and Detroit Country Day’s Joe Bergin are all currently on Northwestern’s roster.
