SEMIFINALS ROUNDUP: North Branch knocks off defending champion Notre Dame Prep to advance to Class B Final

Battle Creek – One year after dropping in the Class B quarterfinals to Pontiac Notre Dame Prepin heartbreaking fashion, North Branch punched its ticket for Battle Creek to play in the Class B semifinals where the Broncos would face Notre Dame Prep once again.
But this time, North Branch would not be denied by the Irish as the Broncos picked up a four game win over Notre Dame Prep, 25-16, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-17 to advance to the Class B State Championship match.
In the Class B title match, the Broncos will face Lake Odessa Lakewood, which topped Battle Creek Harper Creek in four games to advance earlier in the day on Thursday.
Laura Wilson registered 22 kills, while Victoria Severance added in 14 kills and Olivia Fike had 12 kills to lead the way for North Branch.
Notre Dame Prep was led by 2014 Miss Volleyball winner, Katherine Carlson, who finished with 26 kills and Ashley Knutson added in 26 assists for the Irish.
Lake Odessa Lakewood 3, Battle Creek Harper Creek 1: Vanessa Reynhout recorded 32 kills to help lead Lakewood into the Class B state championship game on Thursday.
Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central 3, Unionville Sebewaing 0: Cassandra Haut recorded 20 kills, five blocks and four aces to lead St. Mary Catholic Central to its second state championship match in the past three seasons. Unionville Sebewaing’s Erica Treiber recorded 15 kills and nine digs in the loss.
Schoolcraft 3, Roscommon 2: Jayci Suseland notched 23 kills on the day to help lead Schoolcraft to its first state title match since 2008. Marianne Douglas chipped in with 17 kills in the win and Sarah Wisser finished with 54 assists for Schoolcraft. Roscommon was led by Regan Moffit’s 29 kills and Katie Tozer added in 26 more kills.
