STATE CHAMPS! Friday Football Roundup: Churchill trounces Plymouth in KLAA South action
Livonia – Paul Romain rushed for 260 yards and four touchdowns to help lead Livonia Churchill to a 42-0 win over Plymouth on Friday night in KLAA South action.
Romain got the scoring started for the Chargers, scoring the game’s first touchdown on a 73 yard scamper to put his team on top 7-0 early on. Later in the first half, the Romain tacked on another touchdown to put Churchill on top, 14-0
After quarterback Brian Alsobrooks threw two touchdown passes to Steve Szymanski to end the first half, the Chargers went into the break holding on to a 28-0 lead.
Romain then scored his final two touchdowns of the night in the second half to widen the Churchill lead over Plymouth to 42-0.
Cameron Stella led the Plymouth offense with 95 yards on the ground.
Walled Lake Central 35, Waterford Kettering 14: Parker Krupic rushed for a team-high 115 yards and two touchdowns, while Nick Krumm added in 85 yards on the ground. Danottis Smith paced Kettering with 138 yards rushing.
Waterford Mott 33, Walled Lake Northern 29: Adam Upleger scored three touchdowns in the second half for Mott, while Dakota Kupp threw for over 250 yards and Randy Bicknell tallied nine catches for 135 yards to lead the way for the Corsairs.
East Kentwood 39, Grandville 38: Kyle Friberg’s quarterback sneak with less than 40 seconds left to play proved to be the game-winning score for East Kentwood on Friday night. Michael Ivy rushed for 201 yards and notched three touchdown runs on the night for East Kentwood as well.
Novi 30, Salem 22: Emmanuel Jackson finished with 225 total yards and four touchdowns to help lead Novi to its first win on the season. Alex Bageris threw for over 150 yards on the night for Novi as well.
Pinckney 27, Howell 20: Josh Hess threw for 238 yards, completing 12 of his 15 passes, including three touchdowns. Mason Carruthers made eight catches for 120 yards, while Justin Eagy made three grabs for over 100 yards.
South Lyon 21, Northville 12: Trevor Tank rushed for 125 yards and also scored a touchdown to help lead the way for South Lyon. South Lyon jumped out to a 14-0 lead early on in the second quarter after a 54 yard touchdown pass from Anton Skupin to Joe Newman and a touchdown run from Skupin from 12 yards out.
