STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Michigan recruiting notebook >> Air Force flies into Mitten, bags Davison’s Unger
The Force will soon be with Davison senior defensive end Harry Unger.
Cardinals fly. So Unger is used to the friendly skies.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound workhorse pass rusher committed to Air Force last week. Last fall, Unger recorded 75 tackles (24 of them for lost yardage) and 7 sacks, helping Davison win a D1 state championship. He also had an offer from Army.
Grand Valley Grinders
A pair of gritty gridiron gladiators from Metro Detroit are going next level in grand fashion.
Novi Detroit Catholic Central senior defensive lineman Bruno Guberinich and Romeo senior defensive end Mike Heldman have both committed to Grand Valley State. Heldman (6-4, 240) is a pesky pocket crasher, while Guberinich (6-5, 270) is a sleeper prospect in the trenches with a high-motor and great technique.
Offers of note
• Grand Rapids Catholic Central junior safety Nolan Ziegler got offered by Notre Dame. Ziegler is a Fighting Irish legacy prospect, with his grandfather playing on the Golden Domers’ 1973 National Championship squad.
• Dearborn Fordson junior wide receiver Antonio Gates, Jr. collected an Arkansas offer.
• Pittsburgh came into Detroit and made offers to East Detroit junior wide receiver Tayshawn Trent, Roseville junior wide receiver Tyrell Henry, Detroit Cass Tech junior defensive lineman Jackson Pruitt, River Rouge junior defensive end Davonte Miles and Detroit King sophomore wide receiver Jameel Croft.
