STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Five For Fighting >> Five football players in Michigan ready to make noise on the recruiting front

By: SCOTT M. BURNSTEIN, May 30, 2021, 8:00 am

1 Nolan Ray (Birmingham Brother Rice 6-foot-0, 195-pound Soph. RB) — The Power 5s are taking notice and the gloves are off in the fight for this young buck’s services at the next level, pure gambreaker

2 Keyone Nixon (Macomb Dakota 5-10, 175 Jr. CB) — Just a natural in pass coverage, swagger and smarts.

3 Bertrelle “B.J.” Shelby-Rankin (West Bloomfield 6-0, 195 Jr. S/LB) — The definition of value in the state’s Class of ’22 recruiting crop, this sleeper in the secondary is an under-the-radar ball hawk. [Pictured: No. 21]

4 Caden Vandenberge (Grand Rapids Forest Hills Eastern 6-5, 210 Jr. TE) — Maybe the most upside at his position on the west side of the state.

5 Shamar Snow (Detroit Cass Tech 5-9, 185 Soph. RB) — The best at catching the ball out of the backfield in the D’s Class of ’23.
