STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Indiana Football Recruiting Notebook >> Ashton Craig continues lineman run for Notre Dame, handful of in-state recruits choose Ball State

Notre Dame keeps mining the in-state recruiting ranks for superb linemen.
Early-enrollee Blake Fisher (Avon) will possibly start as a true freshman on the defensive line for the Fighting Irish this fall.
The last week of June, ND scored a commitment from Lawrenceburg senior offensive tackle Ashton Craig.
The 6-foot-5, 290-pound beast in the trenches made two visits to campus in South Bend over the spring and has packed on a solid 20 pounds in the offseason so he can be ready to be thrown straight into the fire — like Fisher currently is — as a Golden Domer fab frosh.
Craig is the No. 8 overall recruit in Hoosierland according to 247Sports and the No. 3 offensive line prospect behind Kentucky-commit Kiyaunte Goodwin (Charlestown), the top recruit in the state’s Class of ’22, and future ND teammate Joey Tanona (Zionsville). Last season, Craig registered 10 pancake blocks.

Chirp, chirp
The Ball State Cardinals of the MAC dipped into the Indianapolis area (and the northeast corner of the state, as well) and collected a bevvy of high-quality commitments in the last week of June.
Here’s the breakdown:
Sam Buras (Center Grove 6-7, 315 OL) — Has NFL upside, think Eric Fisher.
Dejuan Echoles (Warren Central 6-1 1/2, 200 ILB/DE) — High-motor, plays mean and hungry, tallied 45 tackles and six sacks in 2020.
Danny Royster (Lawrence North 6-5, 215 DE/OLB) — Power and finesse in the pass rush, a disrupter on nearly every snap, sheeted 66 tackles and six sacks last season as a junior.
Max Sullivan (Whiteland 6-5, 265 TE) — Potential to be Gronkowski clone at the next level, grit, athleticism, skill, strength and heart.
Christopher Hood (East Noble 6-8, 330 OL) — Hood heads to Muncie with just an enormous ceiling and all the tools in the trenches for monster success.

Other recent commitments:
Rylan Crawford (Leo 6-3, 180 WR) — Committed to Illinois State, Crawford is surehanded and a lethal weapon in the red zone.
Tyler Dostin (Danville 6-3, 235 TE) — Committed to Kent St. Dostin is a dual-threat at the position, a tremendous blocker with a stretch-the-field tool kit to boot.
Kiel Eldridge (Heritage 6-5, 225 DE) — Committed to Toledo, Eldridge is a small-school stud showing flashes of brilliance in the pass rush department and displaying the requisite work ethic to go and impress at the college level right off the bat.
Dillon Moore (Ben Davis 6-2, 190 WR/S) — Committed to Western Michigan, Moore is a diamond-in-the-ruff dandy who has all the markings of becoming that guy people don’t expect a ton from coming onto campus and then blows up and turns into a major-impact playmaker.
Sam Secrest (Indianapolis Roncalli 6-6, 275 OL) — Committed to Central Michigan, Secrest overwhelms the competition with toughness, technique and a nasty streak whistle-to-whistle.
Javon Tracy (Decatur Central 6-1, 180 SB) — Committed to Miami (Ohio), Tracy is the real deal on every touch, this kid does it all, contract killer in space.
