STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Irish Feeding Frenzy — Andrean’s Bowen picks ND, keeps BK rich with in-state blue chippers
The Merrillville Mauler will be on the prowl in South Bend in the near future.
All-American Andrean junior linebacker Drayk Bowen committed to Notre Dame last week, giving the Fighting Irish another Blue Chipper from their in-state recruiting base.
Bowen (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) is the No. 2 ranked outside linebacker in America. He will also play baseball for the Fighting Irish.
Bowen is the sixth recruit to commit to ND head coach Brian Kelly’s Class of ‘23. The choice came down to the Golden Domers, Clemson and Auburn. Notre Dame ultimately got the nod by offering Bowen the chance to also compete on the diamond. He’s a shortstop and a catcher when he puts his baseball cleats on.
The Hoosier State’s top recruit in 2021, Avon defensive lineman Blake Fisher is a freshman at Notre Dame this fall. Zionsville four-star senior offensive lineman Joey Tanona is committed to play in South Bend starting in 2022.
Bowen has recorded 82 tackles so far this season. Andrean is 9-3.
