STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Killing the competition — CC LB gems Courser & Houser flying under the radar

The Killers Bees live again.
Miami Dolphins fans remember the organization’s Killer Bees defensive unit that brought the Magic City’s NFL franchise to a couple Super Bowls in the early 1980s.
Echoes of that unit can be heard at the “Elm” these days.
Novi Detroit Catholic Central juniors Brayden Courser and Baechler Houser are the best pair of linebackers in the MHSAA that not enough people know about. And when I say people, I mean college recruiters.
There is not a single doubt in my mind that these two should have a well-beaten path to their respective doorsteps from college scouts bringing offers by the boatload. But instead, the scouts are sleeping. Wake up, fellas.
Courser and Houser are ferocious sideline to sideline every snap. Just as explosive as can be. Think, grit, gridiron IQ, leadership and closing power down-in and down-out in 6-foot-1, 215-pound frames. They are both averaging 12 tackles per game and displaying the most elite of motors in Catholic League Central play.
Last year as sophomores, Courser and Houser helped spark the Shamrocks to a CHSL Central title. CC is 4-1 out of the gate in 2021. On Sunday, Courser pocketed 14 tackles in CC’s 30-7 stomping of Birmingham Brother Rice in the annual Boys Bowl. Houser chipped in with 10 takedowns on the afternoon.
