STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Lighting The Way To College — Cardinal Ritter’s Litzelman headed to Hanover for hoops
The young lady can light it up on the basketball court and the pitch. She makes net shake, rattle and roll, whether tickling the twine on the hardwood with her jumper or finding the back of them with her foot on the soccer field.
No wonder her friends, teammates and coaches call her “Lights Out.”
Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter senior two-sport standout Emma Litzelman committed to Hanover College earlier this month and will play basketball at the next level. Hanover College is Division III.
A pure point guard who can score with ease, “Lights Out” Litzelman is a coach on the floor-type, the kind of player who makes everyone else around her better. She’s stuffing the stat sheet for 18.1 points, 3.3 dimes and 6.1 boards per night this winter and showing why she’s one of the most relentless backcourt weapons out of the Indy area.
Last spring, Litzelman scored 11 goals and logged six assists for Cardinal Ritter’s girls soccer team as a star midfielder in a 2020 campaign halted after 12 games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her playmaking on the pitch is equally dangerous to what kind of damage she does on the hardwood.
In other words, she’s a natural and the Cardinal Ritter community will miss her immensely when she’s off balling out at Hanover next year.
Cardinal Ritter’s lady hoopsters are currently 6-4 with Litzelman just starting to get cooking — she had 25 in a dub over Monrovia last week, matching her season high set in the opener against Southport.
