This time next year, Ella Stemmer will be headed to Bethlehem, Pa.

The Saline rising senior committed to Lehigh University on Sunday, fulfilling her aspiration to play Division I basketball.

She made the announcement on Twitter Sunday afternoon.

“It has been a dream of mine to play basketball at the next level, and I am super excited to see what the future holds,” Stemmer wrote as part of the Twitter post. “I cannot thank my family, coaches/mentors, and friends enough for their continued support throughout my journey.”

As a junior, the 5-foot-10 Stemmer earned all-state honorable mention from the Detroit News, Detroit Free Press and The Associated Press, and was included on the BCAM’s Best list for Division 1.

She was also one of the final five for the girls basketball slot on the STATE CHAMPS! All-Junior Team.

Stemmer helped the Hornets set a new school record for wins, going 22-2, and reaching the regional finals vs. Brighton when the postseason was shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic. She averaged 19.3 points, six rebounds, 2.6 assists and 3.4 steals per game, shooting 56 percent from 3-point range, and 53 percent from the field.
