STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Solid As A Rock >> Milia makes it Columbia, Brother Rice WR/S goes Ivy League
In case you didn’t know, Birmingham Brother Rice’s Rocco Milia is a force of nature as a football player. A total and complete stud when he’s anywhere near the pigskin.
This kid is a natural playmaker and a leader no matter where you line him up. As a safety, he’ll quarterback the back end of your defense. Put him at receiver and he’s as slick, steady and sure-handed as humanly possible.
So to say the Ivy League got a steal in snatching Milia may be the understatement of 2020. Milia committed to Columbia last week and then went out and scored three touchdowns (two catches and returning a blocked FG for a score on special teams) in Brother Rice’s 42-7 smackdown of Lapeer.
What about the lineage? Oh, yeah, his pops Marc started on the offensive line at Michigan in the 1990s.
It makes you wonder what the Big Ten and the MAC is thinking by ignoring this hidden treasure right in their backyards? Well, you know what they say, one man’s trash is another man’s gold. And the Columbia Lions just got themselves a Golden God of a gridiron gladiator.
“Rocco checks all the boxes, he does everything you want him to do from a coach’s perspective,” Brother Rice head coach Adam Korzeniewski said. “He’s just a winner and a competitor in every way.”
