STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: The End Game — Merrillville’s JoJo Johnson to play his college football for Notre Dame

And in the end, it was Notre Dame.
The luck of the Irish ultimately won out.
After a whirlwind year-long recruiting process, Merrillville senior wide receiver JoJo Johnson committed to play his college football for the Fighting Irish just before Thanksgiving, and just two days after getting the offer from ND.
Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly now has five top-rated wideouts to plug into his passing attack of the future.
Johnson shot up recruiting charts over the past 10 months, going from a Northern Illinois commitment, to a Cincinnati commitment to finally nailing down a scholarship from the prestigious Golden Domers. Scouts love his route running, natural feel for his position and big-pay ability stretching the field.
The sticky-handed, slick-footed 6-foot pass catcher snared 45 balls for 810 yards and 10 touchdowns for a 10-2 Merrillville. He played for Hammond Morton the past three years before transferring to Merrillville in the offseason.
Notre Dame now has 23 commitments for its Class of 2021 recruiting crop. Johnson is just the second in-state pledge for the Fighting Irish, though. The state’s No. 1 recruit for the senior class, Avon offensive lineman Blake Fisher committed back in the summer.
