STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: The Kokomo Cage Connection — Pair of Crispus Attucks hoopsters headed to IU-Kokomo
Indianapolis Crispus Attucks teammates Jaylen Carson and Donavon Barnett will be playing together in college at IU-Kokomo. The starting forwards for the Crispus Attucks Tigers boys basketball team both signed with IU-Kokomo after the Tigers bowed from sectionals with an 18-7 record last week.
IU-Kokomo is an NAIA program and compete out of the River States Conference. The Cougars finished their COVID-19 shortened 2020-2021 campaign 7-2, losing to West Virginia Tech in the quarterfinals of the RSC Tournament last month.
Carson (6-foot-7) was a big reason Crispus Attucks won the city title in 2020. This past season, he was consistently active and aggressive in the paint on both ends of the floor in averaging 12 points and eight boards per game. Barnett (6-5) plays on the wing and averaged 10 points and four rebounds a night this year. His upside in the NAIA is substantial.
