STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Western Union Delivery — OLSM’s Hannah chooses WMU, gives Broncos steal of century

Javaughn Hannah came back to the MHSAA for his senior season on the hardwood. He’ll remain in the Mitten for his college hoops, too.

And he’s doing it highway robbery style.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard left Ypsilanti Prep Academy in the offseason and enrolled at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. In late August, he committed to Western Michigan.

To say, the Broncos got themselves a steal in the recruiting market, is a vast understatement.

Iowa, Ole Miss, Rhode Island, DePaul, Marquette, Texas A&M and Washington State had all offered. Hannah blasted onto the scene in 2019 when as a freshman at Mt. Clemens and took Macomb County by storm with his high-scoring antics. As a sophomore in 2020, he poured in 26 points per night. He went to play on the prep school circuit as a junior last winter.

For the upcoming season, Hannah will be gunning for a state championship with a juggernaut St. Mary’s squad. His arrival in the Catholic League teams him with senior point guard Kareem Rozier, the CHSL’s No. 1 floor general, in the Eaglets backcourt.
