Burney’s Best Left On The Boys Basketball Recruiting Board

Omar Ziegler (Detroit King 6-foot-5 G/F) — Toughness personified at a wing guard spot, so hard to stop going to the rack, a winner in every way.

Mak Manciel (Sterling Heights Stevenson 6-4 G/F) — The MAC’s version of “M&M” has been a revelation this season.

Javantae Randle (Detroit Douglass 6-10 C) — Maybe the most upside of any big guy in the Class of ‘21, will make one college fan base very happy the next handful of years, PSL’s own “D-Boogie” Cousins.

Keyon Menifield (Flint Beecher 6-1 G) — Energizer bunny type out of the backcourt with Iverson-like speed, excellent court vision and an uncanny ability to finish at the tin in traffic.

Jalen Hodges (Bridgeport 6-3 ½ G/F) — The one-time Northwood commit is a total and complete steal at the next level, so explosive, so smooth.

Jaylen Broyles (Ypsilanti Lincoln 6-5 G/F) — Teeming with potential, just scratching the surface on the player he will turn out to be.

Will Smythe (Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 6-2 G) — Best shooter in the state, bar none!

Deon Hayes (North Farmington 6-3 G) — Point guard with hops and a monster hoops IQ

Trevor Smith (Stoney Creek 6-2 G) — Most Improved Player and The MVP of the OAA this year.

Marcus Wourman Jr. (East Lansing 6-0 G) — Bulldog in the backcourt, great tempo setter and gutty in the clutch.

Hunter Soper (Croswell Lexington 6-6, F) — Wow factor by the minute this year for this lightning in a bottle Cros Lex superstar.

Josh Hines (Macomb Dakota 6-2 G) — Making a lot of noise in Macomb County right now, in the middle of a breakout senior campaign, mad swagger, mad skills, mad upside.

Zac Velthouse (Tri-Unity Christian 6-3 G) — Most underrated player on the west side of the state.

Linden Holder (Warren De La Salle 6-1 G) — Everything you could possibly want in a floor general, pure competitor, natural leader and primetime performer.

(tie) Peter Nwoke (Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 6-8 F/C) — Best pure rebounder in the senior class, good touch around the rim and at the free throw line, high grades, perfect fit for the Ivy or Patriot League.

(tie) Javier Whitaker (Hamtramck 6-0 G) — Instant offense, gets heated in hurry.

Names to watch probably going the JUCO route:

Shainen Carter (Detroit King 6-9 C)

David Hughes (Detroit Edison 6-7 F)
