TC St. Francis advances to Class C Final with 53-40 win over Brandywine

East Lansing – Traverse City St. Francis advanced to the Class C finals for the first time in school history as the Gladiators topped Niles Brandywine, 53-40, in the first semifinal of the game on Thursday afternoon at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.

Carrying a 37-31 lead into the fourth quarter, St. Francis began pulling away in the fourth quarter as the Gladiators widened their lead to 43-32 just a minute and a half into the fourth after baskets from Juliana Phillips and Sarah Chouinard.

Phillips led St. Francis with 17 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks, while Chouinard finished with 13 points and seven rebounds and Lauren McDonell added in 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Brandywine was led by 17 points from Makenna Hartline.

In the Class C Final, St. Francis will face the winner of the second semifinal of the day, played between Ithaca and Ypsilanti Arbor Prep.
