The New Math In Indy — Mercer Comes To Town, Grabs Cathedral Hoopster Davis

Just call it Cathedral mathematics.
The heart and soul equals the hustle and flow when it comes to Indianapolis Cathedral senior forward Jake Davis. The 6-foot-7 Davis defines savvy grit and championship-caliber efficiency on the hardwood. Oh, he can shoot the rock, too.
The hardest working man out of the frontcourt in the Circle City, committed to Mercer University last week. Last March, Davis helped lead Cathedral to an IHSAA state crown. He averaged 10 points, 5 rebounds and almost 4 dimes per game while sharing post duties with the nation’s No. 1 recruit, Xavier Booker (Michigan State). The versatility he displays on offense compliment his signature rugged play on defense — see the textbook charges he takes and the floor-burn dives he always seems to be making throughout a contest. .
Mercer is a small DI school in Georgia. Mercer head coach Greg Gary comes from Anderson. His Mercer squad plays in the Southern Conference and went 14-9 in 2022. Before taking the head coaching job at Mercer, Gary was an assistant at Purdue.
Besides Gary and his Mercer Bears, Davis also received offers from other DI schools such as Navy, Army, Campbell, Incarnate Word, Farleigh Dickinson and SE Missouri State.
